Learn About Ignite's Achievements

Within the first year of partnership with IPS to help turnaround Diggs School #42 (2017-2018 school year), Ignite raised the school’s state accountability grade by one letter grade moving from a “D” to a “C.” 

During the 2017-2018 school year many of the grade levels met or exceeded the average national school growth  for NWEA in the following areas: Reading: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade; Math: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade.  What does it mean? Ignite scholars are making growth in core areas: Reading and Math

During the 2018-2019 school year many of the grade levels met or exceeded the average national school growth for NWEA in the following areas: Reading: Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grade; Math: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. What does it mean? Ignite scholars continue to make growth in core areas: Reading and Math

Suspension rates have been reduced by double digits over the past two school years (nearly 45%-19-20 SY and nearly 30% 20-21 SY) due to an increased focus on mindfulness and implementing restorative practices. What does it mean? Ignite is committed to creating a school culture that values conflict resolution, restoration, and keeping students in school as much as possible.

The attendance rate increased by nearly 3% during the 19-20 school year. What does it mean? Students with good attendance tend to do better in school.

The school-specific goals for scholar meditation and Project-based learning has had a rating of meets or exceeds since the school’s inception. What does it mean? We believe that teaching mindfulness (focused concentration) and academics through projects and activities help students learn.

IREAD scores increase by 10% during the 20-21 school year (from the 18-19 school year). What does it mean? Academic progress is being made in critical core areas like reading.

ILEARN proficiency for English Language Learners increased by 8% for ELA and 12% for Math during the 20-21 school year. What does it mean? Students learning to speak English are  making academic progress in critical areas like reading and math.

Ignite had two consecutive all-green ( Meets or Exceeds Standard) ratings during the required Mayor’s Office of Education Innovation site visit ( 2019 Report; 2020 Report) What does it mean? Ignite has a unique school model and has created the conditions for academic progress & success, and is one of the most innovative and exciting schools in Indianapolis.

What does it mean: Ignite understands that sports is critical to the emotional and social development of our scholars. Sports teaches children how to lead, follow, take responsibility, and work well with others.
